not Illinois.

I want to go to a grad school outside of Illinois.. preferably somewhere with mountains..
*cough* colorado *cough*.. i did however find a school in New Mexico that has a masters in Art Therapy. Not exactly mountains... but definitely not Illinois...

mom thinks it will be a lot more expensive than an Illinois school.. but I don't want to be one of those people who keep saying "I want to leave Illnois" and never get the chance to. I know a lot of people in Barry who say that quite often.

It kinda scares me...

Any suggestions?

I went to Wash U for my Masters Which was local even if out of state. If I hadn't had a work waver I couldn't have afforded it. Going to Indiana University for my PhD I can tell you Out of State Grad school credits are VERY costly. Don't go out of state if you can help it. Northwestren I think has an Art Therapy program that's pretty darn good and is in state. However Chicago does not feel in any way like the rest of the state. I would consider your mom's advice carefully. It's a hard and expensive road out there for grad school.
Also I know it's in state but St Louis area is pretty awesome and SIUE is a beautiful place for any degree if you change your mind about there. Not to mention even their grad school rates are CHEAP, and they have an awesome Art Therapy program. Just sayin.

well, butterflies are free.
and it never hurts to ask questions and glean information for a decision of this magnitude.
I applaud your determination to think outside the box.
you know I'm your favorite fan . . .

I would suggest you take your entrance exam and apply for a bunch of programs and graduate assistantships. You can see what type of package they are able to offer your or what type of work you're most interested in doing for your assistantship. Usually grad schools pick you more than you pick them.
